Microalgae for a circular economy

How?

We are establishing a new technology for large-scale microalgae cultivation to produce ground chemicals, revolutionizing the industry.

Microalgae — a largely untapped potential for society

Microalgae are key to our sustainable future. Introducing innovative large-scale technologies, we revolutionize the production of microalgae. We harness the transformative power of algae, create valuable and sustainable products, and accelerate the transition to a zero-emision circular economy.

Microalgae are setting standards in environmentally friendly production. Microalgae are setting standards in enirromentally friendly production. Their impressive potential enables the production of high-quality substances for food, animal feed, ground chemicals and energy. By transforming CO2 and light into biomass, production takes place in a novel photobioreactor.

Downstream operations and sales

We build a solid customer network for biomass-derived products, focusing on process management including harvest, extraction and purification.(We have managed to conclude preliminary contracts for annual sales worth over 10 mio €.)

Sales and downstream operations

We are diligently establishing a robust customer network for all biomass-derived products, emphasizing end-to-end process management encompassing harvesting, extraction, and purification. This strategic approach ensures the availability of our products across diverse sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food as novel ingredients, and beyond. Our endeavor covers the entire spectrum from raw materials to finished goods. By 2026, we aim to diversify our product portfolio and expand our offerings further.

Preparation and further development of biological processes cultivation

Our endeavors involve the meticulous testing of diverse strains of microalgae, coupled with the optimization of their growth and product yield across both laboratory and pilot plant settings. Concurrently, we conduct comprehensive experiments and analyses. The Laboratory for Environmental and Bioprocess Engineering (htw saar) spearheads the development of specialized methodologies for pre-culture management, facilitating the generation of substantial biomass volumes in anticipation of large-scale cultivation initiatives. Under the leadership of Prof. Timo Gehring and his team, we excel in process optimization and biotechnological consultancy.
